Margarito dropped from Pacquiao-Clottey undercard

Disgraced boxer Antonio Margarito's fight has been dropped from the March 13 Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey undercard at Cowboys Stadium for apparent failure to obtain a license from the state of Texas, according to ESPN.com.

Margarito was scheduled to fight Carson Jones in a 155-pound co-feature that would have been the comeback bout for the fighter who had his license revoked in California as the result of a scandal last February.

Before Margarito's bout with Shane Mosley, trainer Naazim Richardson complained about the way Margarito's hands were wrapped. Officials cut off his gloves moments before the fight and discovered illegal plaster inserts.

Mosley went on to knock out Margarito in the 10th round and the state of California's boxing commission voted 7-0 to revoke his license. States typically honor actions taken by other states, although Top Rank did not give a reason for the cancellation.

Instead, Humberto Soto and David Diaz will fight in the top undercard bout.
